29 August

I have a huge window right across from my bed, so everyday without fail, it wakes me up at like 7:00. I took a sleep mask from the closet in the hall we call the Walgreens closet (everyone just leaves stuff there that other people might want when their semester is over). That seems to have solved the problem, even though I pull it off sometimes at night. Although this particular morning, we were not used to having roommates yet, and D hit snooze about 70 times. I just about punched her. Now we are kind of used to everyone's behavior in the am.

Today was mostly spent in the classrooms and around the house, learning how to work in the kitchen, live as a group, not burn the palace down and we got our house jobs. I am the library cleaner/manager. I officially have the easiest job, I think. All I have to do is hoover and put away books, but since the carpet doesn't get messy, I'll hardly ever have to hoover. Brilliant!

I decided to add another class today. And actually, since I was originally going to take 15 credits, then decided not too, I also had to drop a course. So I dropped Services Marketing and picked up Science Fiction and Fantasy Lit and I still have 15 credits. It should be really interesting. I don't really do much fantasy reading, beyond Harry Potter obviously, so I thought it would be a way to look critically at a new genre. Food pretty much sucks, but more on that later.

After dinner, Lead, D, Jamie (another girl in the program) and I went down to the wine store and bought mega tall cans of Stella Artois, a Belgian beer, and drank it and played ping pong and fooseball in the Cavern, one of the hang out rooms in the basement.

We also had a welcome bonfire that night. It was fun, we all got to know eachother and we roasted marshmallows and the such. It was a pretty good time. Here are some pictures from today:
That is me, with a delicious marshmallow, and in the next picture is Jamie on the right with D on the left.

After the bonfire, we all just went to bed. This was really the last day that jet lag was a big deal.
