Arthurs Seat- 20 Sepember

I totally forgot I had done this that weekend, so think of this as a continuation of the last post.

Arthur's Seat is the highest point in Edinburgh, and I think it is named for King Arthur, and because it is kind of flat and looks like a seat. It was really fun. Of course, as soon as we got there, Leah and I deviated from the group and decided we would literally climb up part of the mountain. It was grassy, though, not rock. I don't want to sound too extreme. Either way, it was really steep and scary, and I had to literally crawl up on my hands and knees. I got very dirty. Once we got up, we started walking up the path. Turns out, this was the closed path because it had a rock slide. So then we had to climb back down. Then we had to climb back up to the real path. You can already see where this is going.

There are two points, the actual seat which is high but relatively flat. We chose to go up the other path, which brought us to the mega high point. When we tried to get down from there, I got us lost at least three times, so we went up and down half the mountain several times, and I thought I was going to die. Finally, we found the right path down, and saw the actual seat. When we climbed down from there, we realised we were on the opposite side than where we started. So then we walked around the mountain. All in all, it was a terribly long day. I think we were on the mountain for seven hours.

On the way home we stopped and got some cider and stopped at Toni's Fish Bar, a chippy that one of the girls we met owns. We got deep fried cheeseburgers. They were delicious. But then I drank my cider, and it may as well have been NyQuill, because it knocked me out. I was sore for literally four days. It was really fun, though. Exploring is brilliant.
There were two paths going up the hill. Leah and I took the longer, muddier and steeper one on the right.
One view from the top.
Here is Leah after we got up to the high point.
Here I am on one of the several way downs.
This grassy part is the actual seat. You can see how much higher we were up.
Another shot of the seat.
Here is me on top of the mountain. Notice the dirt.
Here is Edinburgh from the top.
More Edinburgh.
This is one of my favorites.
A shot of the side of the hill.
